We have been totally inspired by the entrepreneurs in Watford and their energy!

Yesterday we were back in Watford to meet up with the entrepreneurs from the last Pop-Up Business school 6 weeks ago and to find out how they have been getting on and we were totally inspired and blown away with the progress they have made!

Here are four of the business that we met yesterday!

Thank you so much to Watford Community Housing Trust for their continued support of this project and for making things happen!  Euan and Sussanah you are stars!

At the bottom of this is a challenge for all Entrepreneurs and start-ups that will help your business get to the next level!  Read on for the challenge!

Ann of Cakes

When it came to huge progress we were so proud of Ann of Cakes who not only has got her website up and running!

Check out: www.annofcakes.co.uk

She is baking incredible cakes, has her first customers, is doing marketing and is making huge progress!  Congratulations Ann!

Bev Gibbs - Sense of Nutrition

Bev came along yesterday and bought her impressive scales that gave us all our measurements!  Alan was very happy to have a metabolic age of one year younger than his actual age!  Mark was not so happy!  Bev's business is on the take off and she is looking for her first 20 people that want to have a four week free course to help them have more energy and loose weight!  Check out Bev'snutrition and health website here

If you want to be one ofBev's volunteers and live in the Watford area then visit this page to sign up now!

David - Cake of Eden

David of Cake of Eden totally blew us away with the flavours of cake he had made, he had our interest from moment one and you will understand when you read these cake flavours!

  1. Orange & Rosemary with a hint of Garlic
  2. Sweet Potato, Pear & Sage
  3. Chocolate and Beetroot

The cakes were incredible and David is already contacting major brands about his cakes as well as independent coffee shops!

The cakes aren't only amazingly flavoured but David tells us healthy for you!

Gilly's sweet treats and Petite Four

Gilly has been working hard on her business and has had a revelation about the term Petite Four and has changed her business name from Gilly's Petite Four to Gilly's Sweet Treats and Desserts!

Yesterday she bought in Pop Cakes which looked incredible and we all devoured them!  Gilly's next step is to get her website online and get her Facebook page going and start selling her products to people around her!  She has made so much so much progress over the last six weeks!

The Entrepreneurs Challenge

When every entrepreneur starts out in business they are scared that they won't get enough customers so when we given them the advice that they have to chose a market and niche down they are instinctively reluctant and want to say "I can sell anything to anyone!"

The Entrepreneurs Curse: "I can sell anything to Anyone"!

If you start this mantra then you will fall into the same trap that Alan (co-founder of the Pop-Up Business School) fell into when he started his business and you WON'T SELL ANYTHING to ANYONE!

The challenge is to get specific

Your challenge is to get as specific as possible and to tweet us (this is on purpose to restrict you to 140 characters!) the answer to this question: "what do you sell and who are you selling it to!

Be as specific as you can and Mark, Alan, Simon and the Pop-Up Business School team will support you in refining your statement!

Write it down now and tweet us the answer!

Gill,

We have not got your tweet yet! Have another go and put @popupbusiness at the start of the tweet! What is your twitter name?

We had a lot of fun too on Saturday afternoon and can't wait to do more with you. I think you are going to have a lot of fun running your business! Alan

Alan,

I think I've probably tweeted myself (if that's possible)! Will try again. My twitter name is GillPhillipsG. Thanks for all your encouragement on Saturday. I have a meeting on Monday morning with a man who is hopefully going to help me with my website, so fingers crossed I'm getting there slowly but surely.
