Do you ever feel like you have so much work to do but don't know where to start? Do you sit down at your PC in a morning and stare at it blankly? Have you ever been frustrated at the end of a day because you know you haven't achieved as much as you should have done? I have!
Time Management is so important, whether it be in our personal lives or business. Yes we all need days, where we can shut the door, turn off our phones and relax but life is so busy that to fit everything in (which includes relaxation) we have to be organised.
Here at Pop-Up we like the following quote:
"If you keep doing what you have always done....
...you will keep getting what you've always got"
What morning rituals do you have? If you feel like you regularly are not having a productive day, chances are you need to review them.
Here are some things I have found useful:
Make a list of activities to be completed - prioritise them by numbering them. Tick them off when they are completed - That gives me such a good feeling!
Turn off Facebook! Remember you are working and chances are if you were in an office you wouldn't have access to it. Don't be tempted to keep checking it throughout the day.
Don't be tempted to check your e-mails first thing in the morning, you will get sucked in and your day will be ruled by answering e-mails: Instead set aside a specific time each day to check and deal with any issues.
Tackle the "boring" jobs first - whatever "boring maybe for you. Don't leave it until the end of the day, get it done and out of the way. This will give you a real sense of pride in yourself and whatever happens for the rest of the day, you will feel a sense of achievement knowing that you tackled that job and got it out of the way.
